The Power of Paula Deen...

It's 8:00 AM on a cloudy Monday morning, 71 degrees, 95% Humidity & 30% chance of thunderstorms but, they are lining up - an hour and a half before reservations are even taken.
Our downtown offices are located across the street from the daily spectacle known as The Lady & Sons . From cattle calls with a western style dinner bell, to a group chant "Hey Y'all," the 100+ tourists crowded around at lunch & dinner time, eat it up...literally.
Paula Deen's popularity is a driving force of visitors to our city. There's Paula Deen Trolley tours, a stop on the Foodie Tour and her gift shop is always packed like it's Christmas Eve. Her popularity gives the almost 7 Million annual visitors one more thing to do and keep them here just a little longer.

Future commercial projects like Savannah River Landing will also add to that length of stay with even more high end retail, dining, hotels & Class A office. But, even with the recession, Savannah is holding its own. Per Sav'h CVB , Hotel occupancies are off by about 10% from '08, a number other US tourist cities would be thrilled to have.
